Delilah wasn't drinking or eating enough to properly lactate and two of her pups were small. When I tried to supplement the two pups with formula, they refused it. It occurred to me that the problem wasn't that those two pups, in particular, weren't getting the nutrition they needed, but that Delilah needed to ingest more fluid. I added a little formula to her water and she dived in! Within 8 to 12 hours she was drinking the "baited" water, eating properly, and lactating wonderfully. The pups were born on Sunday and as of today, mother and babies are doing great.
