Participation in this contest constitutes entrant's full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these official rules.
Contest begins March 16, 2009 and entries must be received by Wednesday, April 1, 2009 to be eligible to win this contest.
Contestants must be a registered user of MainePets.com. If you're not currently a member on the site, go here to join (it only takes a minute to register).
The photo submitted to this Pet Idol contest should be of a pet currently living in Maine.
Only one photo per album should be uploaded for contest entry (if you upload more photos, only the first photo in the album will be considered for the contest).
The voting portion of this contest begins April 5 and ends April 30, 2009. Email addresses must be valid in order to be contacted as a potential winner (the one you used to register on the site).
Rounds of Voting: First round is April 5-9. Second round is April 12-16. Third round is April 19-23. Fourth (and final) round of voting: April 26-30. The winners in each category will be announced May 10, 2009 on MainePets.com and featured in a print ad in the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram.
No photocopies of ballots will be accepted. Please download the ballot from the Pet Idol Contest page.
Contestants must upload a photo of their pet on MainePets.com HERE during that upload process. Check out the How-To Upload Photos thread in the Forum for instructions on uploading photos to MainePets.com
There will be four rounds of voting to narrow down finalists for Pet Idol contest. A ballot must be downloaded from MainePets.com and be mailed per the instructions on the ballot.
Anyone can vote, and as many times as they would like for their favorite pet. The suggested donation for each vote will be given to the Newspapers in Education program to help supply discounted and sponsored subscriptions to area schools as well as the Animal Refuge League of Greater Portland.
Prizes cannot be redeemed for cash, substitution of prizes is prohibited and all prizes are non-transferable.
Winners are responsible for local and state taxes, fees and similar payments if applicable.
The prize winners are responsible for compliance with all conditions that may be set by the sponsors.
MainePets.com reserves the right to use the winners names, town residence, photos and entry materials for contest promotion without consideration.
Employees of MaineToday Media, Inc., their immediate families and members of their households are not eligible to enter.
MainePets.com shall not be liable or responsible for any loss or damage, delays, or failure to perform due to causes beyond reasonable control including, but not limited to, acts of God, employee strikes, epidemics, war, riots, earthquakes, flood, fire, sabotage or any other circumstances of like character.
Decisions made by contest officials are final.
Winners will be notified by email. All will be notified the day they are selected as the winner. There will be no other notification. Winners will have 24 hours to respond. If a winner does not respond, an alternate will be chosen.
