Hi Nancy,

Can you by any chance tell me what the symptoms are. I know the ones I have heard of have had renal failure, but have there been any others - like bleeding internally, to the point of death.
My sister had a dog in January that died of this and the vet said rat poison(no idea where he could have gotten it from as he wasn't a dog allowed out off leash). Also another person's corgi died (8 years healthy) died from blood loss internally.

We are beginning to think these deaths are due to the tainted food as well.

Any info would be helpful,

Thanks,

Gina

Hi Gina,
I am very sorry to hear that. I cut and pasted the following from Pet Connection
"Chronic kidney failure is usually found in aging pets, and can be detected with a simple blood test. Acute kidney failure is typically marked by vomiting, increased thirst, increase or lack of urination, lethargy, bad breath, diarrhea, and lack of appetite. These symptoms signal a health crisis, with time being the difference between whether an animal lives or dies?.

You can get more information here:

Itchmo.com is keeping a list of people reporting dog foods NOT found on the current recall list. I urge you to have your family members contact them with any info they have.

Hi, my fourteen year old dog just past away this week, We assumed that it was old age but i resently heard that kibbles and bits dry food was on the list and that was all he ate.
He stopped eating, he could hardly walk, extreme wieght loss and breathing was difficult. All of this was sudden in the matter of two to three days. Could any of this be possible symptoms of this issue?

HI Dawna-Marie,
I am very sorry for the loss of your dog.
There is no way for me to speculate what killed your dog.
There are rumors flying around the Internet concerning the FDA withholding information about other companies who bought the tainted food source. Can you check the bag and see if wheat gluten is an ingredient? At this time, we are all not even 100 % that Wheat gluten is the culprit however. Please save any un used portions of food you have and report your dogs death to Itchmo.com.
You could choose to do a post mortem.
We will never truly know how many pets have been affected, and unfortunately many of the older, and already sick pets will be swept under the rug as not counting. That makes me really angry because these are pets who really counted on the nutrition that we - their care givers were providing.
