A Change of Scenery
Did you ever want to quit your job? Maybe you were tired of what you were doing and needed a change of scenery? Then you will understand why one llama decided to leave his job to see what else the big world had to offer.
Sir Goofy (SG) is a stately white llama with brown and black markings. He lived a pretty comfy life with a few goats and some guinea birds that roamed in and out of his area. His people took good care of him along with the rest of their wonderful menagerie which includes a peacock and peahen and a pot belly pig.
I met SG last spring when I brought someone over to give him a haircut and I fixed his broken tooth. I was rewarded with 2 years worth of soft fiber which I promptly made into a lovely yarn.
Last week I got a call that SG had broken loose from his pen, and crossed a busy intersection to end up at the local Agway store. The Gorham Police were called to escort SG home. His people were concerned that he would break out again and cause an accident. They asked if we could take him. Sure!
We drove over to get SG. When we arrived, he was haltered up and ready to go! We loaded him up in the back of their Jeep to drive him to his new home. The Jeep had been altered by the removal of the driver’s seat and fitted with a right hand side steering wheel for mail delivery. SG took a spot right up front, which made it look like he was driving!
When we arrived at our house, SG spotted the other camelids. His ears went forward and you could see that he was excited. He went right to the girls and was greeted with many face sniffs and kisses. I knew that he would fit right in!
We think that SG needs a new name to go with his change of scenery, so please email me with any ideas!
