About MannerlyMutt
Name
Robin Rubin
Freeform, about MannerlyMutt
Robin Rubin, owner of Mannerly Mutts Dog Training, specializes in creating, communicating and teaching owners the ability to build a relationship beneficial to themselves and their canine companions. Dog owners have been able to find experience in behavior modification, multi dog issues, and results based training plans at Mannerly Mutts Dog Training.
Robin began her education in dog training by apprenticing at Doberman Rescue Unlimited for a year. She earned her professional membership in the International Association of Canine Professionals in 2007. Furthering her education is a main goal each and every year. Some of the past attended seminars have included Margot Woods Back to Basics School, Martin Deeley’s E-Touch seminar, Behesha Doan’s K-9 Remote Training Seminar, Introduction to Tracking with the Vermont Tracking Club, and Carolyn Scott’s Freestyle Dance Seminar.
In the year 2009 her goals are to perfect handling ability of dogs in the obedience ring. Mannerly Mutts is considering starting an obedience club in the area for trainers that don’t want to be pigeon holed into training with food only. Robin is also submitting her applications to be certified by the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors and the International Association of Canine Professionals.
Mannerly Mutts uses balanced training methods, which is the use of methods or tools that work for a particular dog and owner. Robin has been taught to correctly use tools such as the pinch collar, the metal training collar, electronic collar, clicker, rewards, and corrections.
Jack, Robin’s four and a half year old male Doberman, earned his AKC Companion Dog Title on 6/21/2008. They will be competing in the Open Ring in spring of 2009. Bri, a neighbor's 4 year old female American Staffordshire, has earned her first two legs under Robin’s handling and training In June of 2008, and will be completing her title in Spring 2009. Robin Rubin plans to be competing with Bri in Open in 2009. Devon, the 2-year-old Thai Ridgeback that lives with Bri, will be joining them to compete in AKC Novice during spring 2009.
Robin started her adult life in a different field altogether, that of working for a certified public accounting firm and later working as a Controller for corporate manufacturing companies. While she was very talented and productive in that role, Ms Rubin began yearning to do something that made a difference beyond the corporate world. Her life long love of dogs and volunteering with rescue dogs eventually led her into this career path as a dog trainer.
When not working with dogs, Robin and her husband, Robert, enjoy skiing, antiquing, concerts, hiking, and boogey boarding. Their family currently includes three Dobermans. Leon is a four-year-old red Doberman, who became a family member at 11 weeks old. Jack is a four and a half year old red male Doberman, who was adopted from Doberman Rescue in Sandown NH at 2 years old. Jazz is a fifteen year old black female Doberman, who was adopted at three years old from a breeder.
